Newspapers and Magazines

Printed newspapers and magazines are available for reading in the Reading Room. Magazines may be borrowed for three weeks, with the exception of the latest issue.

To check the availability of a particular magazine in the RIKSWEB Online Catalogue, select “Periodicals” from the menu on the left, choose the magazine you are interested in, and then select Narva Central Library (if other libraries in the region are also listed). You can see which years of the magazine are available in our collection and whether the latest issue has arrived.

Digital newspapers can also be read free of charge at the library.

EBSCO Databases

EBSCO databases can be accessed from the library's public computers.

The databases available through the EBSCO platform provide information on a wide range of subjects. Depending on the publication, users can access full-text articles, abstracts, or bibliographic information.

The databases include both scholarly and popular science journals. Users can also search specifically for peer-reviewed academic articles, which are particularly valuable for research and study.


Sewing Room

The Sewing Room is located on the second floor of Narva Central Library, Room 33.

To use the Sewing Room, please book a time in advance:

Sewing Room Equipment

  • Singer Tradition sewing machine
  • Cutting and layout tables

Users should bring their own materials and supplies, such as fabric, thread, paper, and other necessary items.

Books on sewing are available both for use in the library and for borrowing. The library also offers fashion and handicraft magazines with sewing patterns.

Remote Work and Meeting Rooms

Narva Central Library, Kreenholm Branch Library, and Energia Branch Library provide spaces where library users can work remotely and hold meetings.

Group rooms may not be used for paid training sessions or events, or for public events. Exceptions may be made for designated rooms available for hire by prior agreement with the library and subject to the applicable fees.

Remote workspaces and meeting rooms are available during library opening hours.


3D Modelling and 3D Printing Workshop

The workshop is designed for students aged 14 and over and adult learners.

During two academic hours, participants are introduced to 3D printing technologies, learn how to create a simple 3D model using Tinkercad, and prepare the model for printing using FlashForge and PreForm software.

Participants gain hands-on experience with different 3D printers, including the FlashForge Guider 2, Formlabs Form 2, and Creality K2 Pro Combo, which are used to print the models created during the workshop.

Participants learn the basics of 3D modelling and 3D printing and gain practical experience in creating their first 3D model.

The workshop takes place at the Narva American Space at Narva Central Library and is free of charge.

The workshop is open to registered Narva Central Library users aged 14 and over who have read the Rules for Using the 3D Printer in advance.

Laser Cutting Workshop

The workshop is designed for students aged 14 and over and adult learners.

During two academic hours, participants are introduced to laser cutting technology and gain hands-on experience with different devices, including the DX460 laser cutter and the xTool M1 10W 3-in-1 laser engraving machine.

Participants learn how to create and prepare designs using Inkscape, OpenOffice Draw, and RDWorks 8.0, as well as how to operate a laser cutter safely and independently.

During the workshop, participants create a simple laser-cut item based on their own design. They learn the basics of digital design and laser cutting technology while gaining practical experience in operating the equipment.

The workshop takes place at the Narva American Space at Narva Central Library and is free of charge.

The workshop is open to registered Narva Central Library users aged 14 and over who have read the Rules for Using the Laser Cutter in advance.

3D Scanning

Objects measuring up to 150 × 150 × 150 mm can be scanned using an EinScan SE 3D scanner and specialised software.

The scanned model can be provided to the customer either as the original scan file or as a processed file in a standard 3D model format.

Objects can also be printed using a 3D printer in sizes up to 200 × 200 × 200 mm, either as individual items or in multiple copies.

Available printing materials include PLA.

Public Computers and Internet Access

Registered library users can use public computers at Narva Central Library, Kreenholm Branch Library, and Energia Branch Library to access information, complete necessary online tasks, and use the library's paid services, such as copying and scanning.

At Narva Central Library, public computers are located:

  • on the second floor, in the Technical Literature Department;
  • on the third floor, in the Children's Department;
  • on the fourth floor, in the Reading Room.

At Kreenholm Branch Library and Energia Branch Library, public computers are located in the Lending Department.

You can reserve a computer:

  • in person at the library.

ID card readers are available at all public computer workstations.

ESTLEX Database

Visitors to Narva Central Library can access the ESTLEX database free of charge while at the library.

The database contains Estonian laws, regulations, legal acts, and administrative orders at both national and local levels.

ESTLEX can be accessed in the Reading Room on the fourth floor.

Please ask a librarian for assistance if you would like to use the database.

Handicraft Club at Narva Central Library

Narva Central Library runs a Handicraft Club, where participants can learn new handicraft skills, share their experience, and spend time with other craft enthusiasts.

Meetings take place twice a month on Fridays.
