“Chicago” is a crime musical directed by Rob Marshall and stars Hollywood greats Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, and Richard Gere. The main characters murderesses are Velma Kelly, a chanteuse and tease who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together, and Roxie Hart, who killed her boyfriend when she discovered he wasn't going to make her a star. They find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s Chicago.
“Chicago” won sixAcademy Awardsin 2003, includingBest Picture, as well as three Golden Globes the same year. The movie is widely considered to be responsible for the re-emergence of the musical film genre in the 21st century.
