At the 89th Academy Awards, “La La Land” received a leading six awards, including Best Director, Best Actress (for Stone), Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song (“City of Stars”) and Best Production Design. The film received a total of 14 nominations, tying records for most nominations by a single film with “All About Eve” (1950) and “Titanic” (1997).
Mia (Emma Stone) dreams of becoming an actress, but she serves coffee to movie stars and attends endless auditions. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) is a jazz musician who has to play simple tunes at parties. Having achieved success, each of them will have to make a decision that can endanger either their fragile relationship or their careers, which they have long dreamed of.
