“Beasts of the Southern Wild” is one of the most spoken of movie of 2012; an epic fantasy, which features a spectacular role by Quvenzhané Wallis, playing the six-year old Hushpuppy of the fictional southern Louisiana bayou community threatened by rising waters of the melting ice caps.
The film won the Caméra d'Or award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. It also went on to earn several high recognitions from variety of international film festivals and in the beginning of 2013 was nominated for four Oscars, in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director (Benh Zeitlin), Best Actress (Quvenzhané Wallis), and Adapted Screenplay (Lucy Alibar & Benh Zeitlin).
