“Precious,” based off the novel “Push” by Sapphire, received commercial and critical success in 2009. The story of Precious captivated audiences worldwide, and shows a courageous and emotional depiction of inner-city life in America. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience and Grand Jury Prize for best drama. “Precious” went on to screen at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, and ultimately receive six Academy Award nominations.
